Alex, yes, it was east to north-east wind (side-off) in Cheung Sha on Aug 3. The wind that day was actually quite gusty, the wave was messy and not quite regular. So, windsurfers just went out on Aug 2 and Mike was the only one in the water on Aug 3.
There are some nice wave in Cheung Sha even in non-typhoon days, but nice wave may not always come with strong wind. In fact, wind in HK is generally mild and soft in summer other than typhoon days. |

It seems the wave was extremely good for wave sailing. Hau, is it side-off wind and is it good for windsurfing. Other than the typhoon, any other time will it occur?
