THERE IS NO NO-CAM SAIL OUT THERE COVERING A LARGER TRIM- AND WIND RANGE THAN THE E_PACE!

The brand-new E_PACEs are exactly the kind of athletic freeride sails which make windsurfing so fascinating and uncomplicated: easy to rig, accelerate like an e-motor and get into planing without pumping. Paired with competitive speed potential and the playful handling of a no-cam sail. This is pure windsurfing, with lots of thrust, speed AND the special ease for sporty driven maneuvers.
Versatility is the great strength of the E_PACE: versatile range of use, versatile in a wide range of wind conditions. Thanks to the 3 IN 1 DESIGN with a greatly reduced luff curve, which is almost straight in the upper area, the downhaul tension has a major influence on the loose leech - and in turn on the character of the sail, depending on the trim. The two extremely wide MIN and MAX trim points offer the opportunity to cover an incredibly wide wind range and to give the E_PACE a completely different high- or low end performance and sail feeling. On MIN setting it accelerates very powerfully with the slightest wind pressure and feels incredibly light - ideal also for foiling. On MAX trim, however, it offers endless speed and control even when overpowered thanks to its pronounced loose leech.
Ergo: The new No Cam E_PACE is the perfect freeride sail for all waters and conditions, combining handling and rigging advantages with a crisp, direct feel and harmonious, sparkling power delivery. Offering lot of fun, confidence, control and wonderfully easy windsurfing. We are sure that there is no No Cam sail out there covering a larger wind range and range of use than the E_PACE.
Simply awesome: When used for foiling the E_PACE features a special clew eyelet to be able to position the sail even more upright!

All E_PACE are also available in monofilm-free HD construction. The extremely durable material mix, however, has its price, which we want to point out.

SAIL MAST COMPATIBILITY

WANNA KNOW HOW OTHER BRANDS MASTS WORK WITH DUOTONE SAILS? OR HOW YOU SHOULD SETUP YOUR PERSONAL SAIL QUIVER?

1. SAIL-MAST COMPATIBILITY

At Duotone we use a Medium Constant Curve for our masts (our bend percentages range between 61-63 bottom and 75-77 top depending on model and length). As this curve sits right in the middle within Constant Curve masts it offers the biggest compatibility of any bend curve. This makes our masts and sails the most compatible on the market.

Here is how good other brand masts work with our sails and vice versa:

  1. Challenger Sails, Ezzy, GA (2017 on), Goya, Gun Sails, Hot Sails, KA Sails, Loft Sails, Naish Sails, RRD, S2Maui, Sailloft, Sailworks, Severne (2014 on): 80-90% (depending on model and size)
  2. NeilPryde, Point7, Simmer Style: 70-80% (depending on model and size)
  3. Avanti, Gaastra (until 2016), Maui Sails, Severne (until 2013), Vandal: not compatible
2. SAIL QUIVER COMPATIBILITY

Most customers change their individual sail and mast sizes according to demand and therefore own a quiver with different brands. When building up your sail quiver, you should try to combine sails that have a similar feel and behavior. The one decisive factor defining how similar or different one sail feels/behaves to another is the position of the draft, in both levels, vertical (high><low) and horizontal (forward><back).

  • Freeride and Slalom sails from the different brands nowadays feel quite similar since at least the horizontal draft position is forward oriented on nearly every sail.
  • The biggest difference though you find with Wave sails.

Basically there are 2 different kind of wave sails:

  1. Draft further back (= balanced pull on both hands) and low (to keep the sail controllable). These sails are the ideal companion for multi-fin boards. Since the balanced pull on both hands makes them super neutral in your hands they shine especially in real down the line conditions. On the other hand they feel very different to modern Freeride and Slalom sails (which are very forward pulling). So if you are using such draft back/low Wave sails only very occasionally as your high wind flat water sail you might be better off with the second type of wave sails.
  2. Draft forward and up (to still generate enough low end power): these sails work on both single- and multi-fin boards. With the forward pulling feeling they are more exiting/direct to sail and have a very similar feeling to modern Freeride and Slalom sails. In addition they are the ideal choice for side-onshore jumping conditions as the higher and forward oriented draft helps/accelerates rotations in the air (especially forward loops).

So when mixing your quiver with different sails/brands you should try to combine sails which have a similar draft position and thus feeling and behavior.

Just follow these guidelines:

  1. You are mainly sailing on flat water. Try to combine your Freeride or Slalom sails with a draft forward/up wave sail. Typical examples are: Duotone Super Session / NP Combat / NP Atlas / Severne Blade / Simmer Icon
  2. You are looking for a wave sail which is super neutral for down the line riding. Try to get some of these: Duotone Super Hero / GA IQ / Goya Banzai / Goya Fringe / NP Zone / Simmer Tricera / Simmer Blacktip
  3. Try to avoid combining draft forward/up- with draft back/low sails in your quiver as these feel and behave extremely different.

VTS MIN TRIM

LOW DOWNHAUL TENSION
LEADS TO:
TIGHT LEECH, REDUCED SAIL- AND MAST PRETENSION, DRAFT SLIGHTLY FURTHER BACK

ON THE WATER:
>> MAXIMUM LOW END POWER
>> EASIER AND MORE EFFICIENT TO PUMP
>> SOFTER AND MORE COMFORTABLE TO SAIL IN LOW END CONDITIONS
(VERY EFFICIENT ESPECIALLY ON FREERIDE BOARDS LIKE E.G. FANATIC GECKO)
>> TIGHT LEECH IDEAL FOR FOIL USAGE

VTS MAX TRIM

HIGH DOWNHAUL TENSION
LEADS TO:
PRONOUNCED LOOSE LEECH, HIGH SAIL- AND MAST PRETENSION, DRAFT SLIGHTLY FURTHER FORWARD

ON THE WATER:
>> MAXIMUM HIGH END CONTROL/V-MAX
>> MORE FORWARD AND DIRECT PULL FOR EXPLOSIVE ACCELERATION WHEN POWERED UP
(VERY EFFICIENT ESPECIALLY ON FREERACE BOARDS LIKE E.G. FANATIC BLAST)
